The 5th Annual William Stokes Lecture and Award Ceremony will take place on Friday 2nd October 2015.
We are delighted to announce that the Minister for Health, Dr Leo Varadkar, will be present this year.
This is an opportunity to honour the often unrecognised work of St James’s Hospital Consultants and to showcase the progress in clinical and scientific endeavours within our institution.
Previous recipients of this award are:
Professor Joe Keane (2011) whose work on tuberculosis has won international acclaim.
Professor James O’Donnell (2012) who has received worldwide recognition for his research on vonWillebrand disease.
Professor Brian Lawlor (2013) for his work on the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
Professor Thomas Lynch (2014) who outlined new techniques in nephrectomy and prostatectomy.
We are justly proud of our colleagues whose efforts, well beyond their normal duties, facilitated such important medical progress.
This year, we have invited consultants who have made innovative clinical developments to their service or speciality or clinically important research discoveries to submit a 1 page abstract outlining the rationale, methodology and outcome of their projects, with a particular emphasis on the benefits to patient care and well-being. In addition, we will also allow proposals from others to nominate consultants who, despite onerous workloads or other impediments, inspire others to achieve excellence in clinical care.
The deadline for abstract submissions is midday on Friday June 26th.
The judging panel will be confirmed soon.
This is a great opportunity to highlight your specialty and to celebrate the ground-breaking and exciting work that is taking place in St James’s.
